Lagrange Interpolation and Finite Element Superconvergence
Abstract. We consider the finite element approximation of the Laplacian operator with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition, and study the corresponding Lagrange interpolation in the context of finite element superconvergence. For ddimensional Qk-type elements with d ≥ 1 and k ≥ 1, we prove that the interpolation points must be the Lobatto points if the Lagrange interpolation and the fin...

JYV ASKYL A 1996 2 Superconvergence for second order triangular mixed and standard nite elements. Abstract In this paper we will prove that both the second order Raviart-Thomas type mixed nite elements and the quadratic standard nite elements on regular and uniform triangular partitions, are superconvergent with respect to Fortin interpolation. This result implies the superconvergence for quadr...
متن کاملSuperconvergent Two-Grid Methods for Elliptic Eigenvalue Problems
Some numerical algorithms for elliptic eigenvalue problems are proposed, analyzed, and numerically tested. The methods combine advantages of the two-grid algorithm (Xu and Zhou in Math Comput 70(233):17–25, 2001), the two-space method (Racheva and Andreev in ComputMethods ApplMath 2:171–185, 2002), the shifted inverse powermethod (Hu and Cheng in Math Comput 80:1287–1301, 2011; Yang and Bi in S...
متن کاملConvergence of adaptive finite element methods for eigenvalue problems
In this article we prove convergence of adaptive finite element methods for second order elliptic eigenvalue problems. We consider Lagrange finite elements of any degree and prove convergence for simple as well as multiple eigenvalues under a minimal refinement of marked elements, for all reasonable marking strategies, and starting from any initial triangulation.
